Lab 1 – Google Cloud Platform – Infrastructure Lab

Overview

The objective of this hands-on lab is to configure a GCP network over a Shared-VPC to extend network capability across two different projects. In conjunction with this exercise, SAP HANA Express Edition will be deployed using Google Deployment Manager and shared across both projects.

This lab demonstrates how GCP Network Shared-VPC can be set up to access an SAP HANA database between two projects without an external IP address.

Lab Outline:

  • Log in to Google Cloud Platform
  • Create two projects
  • Create custom VPC in project 1
  • Create Shared-VPC in project 1
  • Deploy SAP HANA Express Edition in project 2
  • Access SAP HAE from project 1

 

Lab 2 – S/4 HANA with Enhanced Monitoring – Stackdriver

Overview

In this lab, you will deploy and run an SAP S/4HANA solution, configure GCP (Google Cloud Platform) Stackdriver monitoring, simulate a live migration, and view the Stackdriver monitoring of the S/4HANA system on GCP. Through this process, you will discover how quickly an SAP S/4HANA system can be brought up in Google Cloud Platform.

Google Stackdriver is GCPs built-in monitoring solution and, with the addition of the SAP HANA custom monitoring agent for SAP HANA, additional visibility, dashboards, and alerts are available through GCP.

Lab Outline:

  • Add SSH Keys to GCP
  • Deploy the Remote Desktop Client
  • Deploy the Pre-Packaged SAP S/4HANA 1809 Embedded Server
  • Start and connect to your SAP S/4HANA Solution
  • Login to your SAP S/4HANA Solution
  • Install the Google Stackdriver agent on the SAP S/4HANA host
  • Live Migration Simulation and Stackdriver monitoring

 

Lab 3 – HA/DR for SAP Workloads

Overview

The objective of this hands-on lab is to introduce Google Cloud Platform navigation console and Google Cloud Storage.

The lab demonstrates how to build in an efficient way, an SAP HANA environment with HA/DR by using Google Cloud Platform tools and services. For this exercise, a new SAP HANA instance will be created and duplicated in 2 different zones and regions.

In the lab, you will create virtual machines by using images and snapshot techniques to install SAP Hana and you will use the Cloud DNS service for fail over testing.

  • Create VM
  • Install SAP Hana
  • Setup HA/DR
  • Setup DNS for testing

 

Lab 4 – External Access for SAP Application – GCP Load Balancer

Overview

The objective of this hands-on lab is to configure a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Network Services external load balancer to access an SAP NetWeaver® instance through an SAP Web Dispatcher without an external IP address.  For this exercise, an SAP NetWeaver application server and an SAP Web Dispatcher has already been created; the load balancer will be created in GCP.

  • Test Web Dispatcher
  • Create a Load Balancer
  • Test the Connectivity

 

Lab 5 – Google BigQuery and SAP HANA Integration on Google Cloud Platform

Overview

The objective of this hands-on lab is to show you how SAP HANA and Google’s BigQuery database and query technology can be combined to generate business value.

The lab demonstrates how a business can potentially use SAP HANA to access another database to invoice customers for multiple bike rentals. For this exercise, BigQuery contains the bike rental history of customers, and SAP HANA contains a table with customer information and rental rates. Both data sets will be combined, allowing one query to calculate the total cost of all rentals for a given customer.

In the lab, you will deploy and run an SAP HANA database, configure SAP HANA to connect with Google BigQuery, load some sample data, and then perform the query to demonstrate the integration.
