Employee Wellness As a Management Function

“Corporate training is on the rise in the HR world due to its staggering business case: Replacing an employee who earns $75,000 is estimated to cost around 20% of their income.”

Training is a motivator for employees to stay within a company. Having training tailored to your business also inspires them to invest in the company, as their training is specialized.

And with the advent and rise of working from home, employees will need their corporate training delivered in a virtual format. Companies should think of themselves as the educational institute while thinking of their employees as eager, ready-to-learn students.

Leveraging a virtual learning platform can be an incredible way for HR and business operations teams to improve employee retention and foster growth amongst their employees.

The Rise of Virtual Learning In Corporations

“The average enterprise is projected to spend $1,286 per employee in corporate training”

Recent trends show that the mental and physical well-being of your employees directly affects their work behavior, attendance and at work performance. Without an office and the general camaraderie afforded by a non-virtual world, employers can no longer afford to put mental health and wellness on the back burner

However, for these initiatives to see success, they must become an intrinsic, second-nature part of most companies’ HR programs. And judging from the market, this trend has caught on…

“The global corporate wellness market is expected to garner growth at a CAGR of 7.1% over the forecast period 2020 to 2027″

In this article, the KochaSoft Cloud Software practice will break down how our virtual LMS solution is not just used for up-skilling and employee training, but used in the employee and wellness training conversation.

Application 1: Allowing Instructors or Corporate Trainers To Upload Content Directly To a Self-Serve Platform

There are a variety of virtual teaching platforms out there for individual instructors as well as enterprises. But, what we’ve found is that corporate trainers are struggling to find a platform that does both student management and curriculum content control all in one platform.

Because of this, we have found one of the more requested course verticals when working on our LMS platform from customers is the ability to teach yoga online. No longer is yoga a “fun” activity relegated to Silicon Valley disrupters: it is now the norm inside of most corporations.

Application 2: Allowing Managers To Affect Change When It Comes to Employee Performance

When it comes to the actual reason why wellness classes, such as yoga, are becoming all the rage amongst corporations…it’s simple: it works. Employees that are actively engaged in learning and wellness perform better. It’s that simple. When we work with our corporate clients, we find that the greatest users of our online learning platform is managers.

Managers are the instigators and organizers of change. They are responsible for follow through and quality control. In this way, they are almost miniature therapists to their employees, guiding them through mental health and change They allocate resources such as time, space and money.

What we strive to do at KochaSoft, through our LMS, is to allow leaders and managers work to create conditions that are conducive to success. They are accountable for the failure of the group or organization.

By giving employees permission to keep their health and well-being a top priority, employees will be much more likely to adopt healthy behaviors at the workplace, such as staying active, making better nutritional choices and engaging in stress-relief activities. One of the ways we do this is our staff portal, which allows managers to log in and see how our employees are performing when it comes to wellness modules.

Application 3: Encouraging Active Employee and Student Engagement

For employees who are engaged in these wellness modules, we’ve often heard the feedback that employee training modules are frankly, boring.

Nobody is writing home about their “incredibly exciting” employee onboarding session that lasts for 12 hours. Even worse, was the resource exhaustive “company training” lunches where management would fly down from HQ and lecture at employees for days on end.

From a product standpoint, what we aim to do with the LMS platform is to…

  • Engage employees at the point where they are engaged. We allow them to consume content in any format that they deem engaging
  • Saving course content for later. The employees are able to digest the wellness content at the pace they deem best for their learning capacity
  • Consume only the relevant skills they need. Our platform recommends and shares course content based on the exact relevant needs that our employees have
